This month has felt CRAZYYYY town over here. I’m not sure if you’re in the same boat or not, but 2022 did not come quietly for the DiTullio’s. We’ve gone from back to back illnesses to a death in the family, an injured wrist, shifting full time jobs, and building side hustles.
Lately, we’ve had just so much flying at us, it feels like I cannot stop to catch my breath for even a second.
But, I’m not here to complain about how hectic our life is! I’m writing this to HOPEFULLY inspire you along your health journey while I fumble my way through mine. And that’s exactly what it’s been feeling like lately – fumbling…
At first, I honestly saw this month as a failure. I didn’t get as toned as I wanted to, between getting sick twice + having a hurt wrist, I couldn’t lift or do as many workouts as I wanted. But, the more I think about it, the more I realize this month has actually been a freaking WIN!
Not only did I lose 4lbs, but my clothes are fitting better, my skin is getting clearer, and I’m feeling more confident in my postpartum body. If that isn’t a success, I don’t know what is!!
I recently found out that I have tendonitis in my wrist which makes it painful to lift anything slightly heavy, put pressure on it, and even put my hair up in a messy bun. And, as someone who loves to lift weights, it’s been TOUGH not being able to do that.
Luckily, since I workout at home with BeachBody On Demand, I’ve been able to find a variety of workouts that I can do without lifting a weight or putting much, if any, pressure on my wrist. Which has been a huge win! I find if I don’t take at least a little bit of time to move my body each morning, I’m so grumpy and have zero patience. Movement is ESSENTIAL.
Aside from having to modify my workout plan, my nutrition has been the best it’s been since getting pregnant. I’ve been sticking with plate it (from 2B Mindset) daily and including a few treats here and there. I fully believe it’s alll about balance!
I did have to switch back to a dairy free lifestyle this month though. Before I was pregnant, I was sensitive to dairy, but discovered that while I was pregnant, I could eat dairy again – thank the cheese Gods!! Thankfully, I was still able to have dairy until about 6 months after I had Garrett. Then, all the sudden, I just had an uncomfortable stomach ache for a week straight and I knew my cheese munchin days were over. I stopped eating dairy for about a week and VIOLA, stomach ache gone, and (bonus) I was feeling so much LEANER!!
While I’ll definitely miss cheese, and may still enjoy it from time to time, I know being dairy free is what’s best for my body. I just feel so much better without having it on a semi-daily basis!
I think we all have stuff like that! Maybe for you, it’s caffeine or alcohol or binging Netflix before bed. Whatever it might be that feels good in the moment, but leaves you uncomfortable later, I challenge you to take a break from it for 2-3 weeks and see how you feel! I bet you’ll feel DAMN GOOD!
