My Journey: Week 3 of 75Hard

Days 15 – 21

I cannot believe I wrapped up week 3! It doesn’t feel like I’ve almost been at this for a month, but at the same time, feels like I’ve been doing this thing forever (in a good way!).

Getting my tasks done feels like second nature at this point. I know I can make it happen so I’m not stressed about them. But, like Andy Frisella (the creator of 75Hard) says, this is when most people slip up. They forget a task because it starts to feel easier.

I definitely felt this on Saturday evening! I was sitting on the couch, talking to Greg and our friend Dylan, when I saw Garrett go to grab the book I have sitting on our coffee table. THAT’S when the lightbulb went off…I still needed to read 10 pages!

Garrett and I had been running around all day. So, I was exhausted and just wanted to go to bed. But, I didn’t come this far just to come this far 👏🏼👏🏼.

I made myself a cup of lemon loaf herbal tea, and read my pages in bed. It was actually a really nice way to wind down after a busy day!

Some of the challenges I faced include:

  • Ballpark Snacks
  • PMS
  • Increased workout intensity
  • Forgetting to bring lunch to the office
  • Meal prep

How did I overcome these challenges? Well, I’ll tell ya 😉…

  • Ballpark Snacks: I packed my own veggies and lean proteins to snack on and kept a water in hand. This way, I still felt like I was able to enjoy snacking at the game, but it was in a way that felt good!
  • PMS: was actually way more manageable this month than it has been lately (thank you strong nutrition focus!).
    • I dealt with minimal bloating, which is a HUGE improvement over the 4-6lbs I was gaining from my period before. I’m sure lall the water I’ve been drinking helped!
    • My biggest struggle here was (and has been) mood swings. I’m continuing to focus on personal development with my 10 pages of daily reading, and I know that’s going to help so much!
  • Increased Workout Intensity: I’ve needed to increase my food a bit to match the increased intensity of my workouts. I feel like I eat all day at this point, but I know it’s what I need to keep feeling my best!
  • Forgetting Lunch: I DoorDashed healthy options to the office! I had Smoothie King for breakfast and a salad from Aladdin’s for lunch. It wasn’t a weight loss day, but I still felt GOOD afterwards, and that’s what counts! Old me would’ve used it as an excuse to eat treats all day, but not anymore 👏🏼👏🏼
  • Meal prep; my son is SO ACTIVE now and doesn’t want to sit still, so full meal preps are nearly impossible. I tried something new this week and took 1-2 hours on Sunday (split up throughout the day) to chop up veggies and pull meat out of the freezer for the week. This way I just need to dump and cook throughout the week, saving time + energy. Thats a win-win in this mommas book!

Even though there may be challenges + rocky moments, I know I’m building up my strength (mental + physical) to handle whatever life throws at me. And THAT’S what this challenge is about!!

Some things I’m celebrating this week:

  • Losing 3lb this week (4.6 total)
  • GAINING muscle
  • Getting stronger + being able to carry my sons pumpkin seat easier
  • Being able to do push-ups on my toes
  • Increased endurance
  • More energy
  • Not giving into stress eating

My biggest takeaway this week how important it is to have a backup plan (or 3).

Your day will never go perfectly. Own that ish and make it work! Despite. All. Obstacles.
