Starting My Journey

Feb 13, 2019 – Day 1

I’m not sure I’ll ever forget this date. It was hands down one of the most important days of my life.

It was the day I decided I needed to make a change. It was the day I decided I was tired of hating the way I looked and the way I felt and I committed to going ALL IN on my health + fitness.

5 months prior, Greg and I had gotten married. Before our wedding, I completely restricted myself and made myself miserable just so I would look “perfect” in my dress.

I counted every calorie, gave up alcohol for 9 months, and starved myself for 3 days leading up to the wedding all to lost a whopping 10 pounds.

After the wedding, I totally let loose. Every night I would come home from work, eat a bag of chips, and drink a couple glasses of wine because I was so happy to not have to restrict myself anymore. But this just let to me gaining back everything I had lost + some.

This lead to a boat load of self confidence issues. And to top it off with the stress of being a new wife and homeowner, it’s safe to say I was a mess.

Greg and I fought A LOT. I had somehow convinced myself that because I had gained so much weight, he didn’t love me anymore – did I mention I was struggling with self confidence issues?

I’ll never forget the day Greg came home and I was washing the dishes, drinking a glass of wine, and crying. I was so upset because I was so tired of feeling miserable all the time. I felt like I was emotional all the time, I was unhappy with the way I looked, and that unhappiness was seeping into all aspects of my life and affecting our relationship.

In January 2019 I decided I needed to make a change. I had always tried to eat healthy and gone to the gym (usually), but this time I wanted to try something new. I was tired of feeling sorry for myself and tired of making everyone else around me miserable so I decided to try an intuitive eating meal plan called 2B Mindset and start drinking superfood shakes every morning.

I was following the meal plan and drinking the shakes most of the time, but I wasn’t fully committed. I wasn’t being consistent with my nutrition or going to the gym and I didn’t truly believe I was going to see results.

I had lost about 3-4 pounds in January and was starting to feel better, but then, I went on a work trip. On this trip, I over indulged frequently, only worked out once, and totally threw my meal plan out the window. I came home the heaviest I have ever been (the first picture) and felt so gross and annoyed with myself. I was DETERMINED to make a change and stick to it.

On February 13th, 2019 I decided I was going to follow my meal plan, which allows for treats, drink my superfood shakes daily, and fully commit to working out. And that is when my journey began!
